As you probably gathered in this post, I have a soft spot for small business owners. As someone building a personal brand (both in my acting career and in this space), I can really appreciate the hard work that goes into growing something from the ground up. I can appreciate the bravery it takes to pursue your dreams, to take the less traditional approach, to open yourself up to vulnerability, rejection, and heartache – all in an effort to share your craft with the world. I know it’s not easy or glamorous, and the path can be filled with literal blood, sweat, and tears (believe me, I’ve shed my fair share). But you know that notion that the harder you work for something, the more rewarding it is when you finally obtain it?

So when Nu Wave LA reached out to me to share their developing hat collection, I was of course down to support a local Los Angeles business. One that’s fun, relevant, and using the new social media culture to its advantage (just like this brand did). Perfect for those sunny beach days, getting in that cardio with a hike or hip hop, or just kicking it around the city.
And if you’re more of a beanie wearer yourself, how cool is this one?
Stay cool, LA. Stay cool.
Outfit: Hat c/o Nu Wave LA, bralette from Urban Outfitters, thrifted Bebe jacket and flared jeans, Converse high-tops (literally 10 years old), roller skates from Big 5.
P.S. Flares and PJs and finding inspiration in your closet.
