the girls in red, white, and blue

This morning I cast my votes in the 2016 election. I’m embarrassed to say this is my first time at the polls, but it’s an election too important to sit out. I was SO EXCITED as I marked my votes, and I’m hopeful that tonight we make history (in the best possible way).

I think too often we take for granted that we live in a democracy. Say what you will about the candidates and this crazy election, but the fact that we have the freedom to choose our leaders and have some kind of say in how our country is run is a right many are not granted.

So today, I’m with her. And all the other girls and women who have fought for their rights as human beings. All the other girls and women who are still viewed as less than. All the other girls and women who are still fighting.

America still has a long way to go, but darn it if we aren’t fortunate to live in a country that has made such great strides already.
