I’ve always admired those people who know themselves and what they like so well, that they stick with it forever -whether it be a signature perfume, go-to mixed drink, or hairstyle they’ve worn for 20 years. I don’t know if it’s their commitment to these things or what, but for lack of a better word, I find these people so cool. Maybe its because they are undoubtedly being themselves – even as the seasons and years and trends change.
What about having a coffee order that the barista already knows? If I’m being honest, that’s always been a weird, albeit minuscule, dream of mine. Because, on some level, it means you are just confidently living your life for you and not giving a damn about it.
And, I’ve found it. Enter: the almond milk latte. Oh sweet, sweet almond milk latte, how it took me this long to find you, I will never know. It is so good that – gasp – I don’t even put sugar in my coffee anymore. I’m not yet in the ranks of baristas handing me a cup as soon as I enter, but they’ve got my name down, so I’m working on it.
And while I’m speaking about signature drinks, if I had to choose a signature outfit – or uniform if you will – it would be this. High rise denim, a black top, ankle booties, and a good ol’ roomy coat or sweater. It’s classic and simple and comfortable. I try to be creative with my wardrobe to keep things interesting, but I often find myself coming back to some variation of this combo. It’s good to try new things, but sometimes you have to stick with what you love.
“I’ll have the usual please.”
