Three years. Three years I’ve been waiting to make our return to Sonoma, and this year we finally made it happen for my birthday weekend. Drinking wine, reading in a hammock, and playing with Kip at the lake – honestly, could I have a better birthday? Thankful to have rung in my 20 (something) year in this lovely place.
We’re lucky that our friend’s parents own this little oasis in the woods, where we’ve gotten to stay during our last two visits. We spent the weekend with two other couples, and Whitney and I got to stay in the cute garage converted guest house. We woke each morning to coffee brewing and homemade breakfast before walking the dogs down to the lake for an early swim. Saturday we visited three vineyards for wine tastings (where I got to eat dark chocolate truffles with WINE in the center) and ate dinner by candlelight on the back porch. I think this is our (Whitney’s, Kipling’s, and my) favorite vacation spot. We already can’t wait to go back.
We forgot our GoPro this trip, but I can’t resist making a little vacation video, so we used our phones instead – I’ll share that as soon as I put it together. Thinking this weekend is a sign of good things to come this year. ❤
P.S. All photos taken on my phone and edited with the VSCO app.

Great article – looking forward to the other parts. We live in Napa Valley, and that’s nice of course. But our favorite place is Sonoma County, especially anything close to the Russian River. Look forward to hearing about any wineries you visited. Check out our wine country blog for some Napa and Sonoma places we like to visit: http://www.topochinesvino.com.
