new headshots

I am no stranger to taking headshots – in fact, this is my fourth time to do so in Los Angeles alone. But oh, the dreaded headshots. The effort to try to squeeze who you are into a few hours of still photos. In the past, I’ve always felt like they never quite looked like me or encapsulated who I was – and definitely did not show the range I could play. But this time I came inΒ with very specific “looks” to target, and I clearly communicated with the super cool makeup artist what I wanted to highlight (and how I wear my hair/makeup every day). Thank the heavens she also knew how to do hair because generally the MUA leaves it alone, and I’m stuck with a less than varied session. This time I went with the equally as cool Joanna DegeneresΒ as my photographer, and I can honestly say these are the best headshots I have ever taken. They look like (an elevated version of) me. They show variety. And most importantly, they show who I am. I had such a fun and relaxed time during the shoot, which makes the final products that much better. Without further ado, after going through (literally) a thousand photos, here are a few of my (un-airbrushed) favorites. My reps are going to have a hard time narrowing their choices down because Joanna KILLED it.

Also, if you’re on the hunt for an awesome hair stylist, Dina at The Compound is your girl.
