Yes, I’m jumping on the bandwagon of New Year resolutionists. But, I make them every year along with my bajillion other lists of goals. I could say that this year will be different – that I’ll stick to my resolutions and fulfill all my goals – but I say that every year along with everyone else. All this is to say that I’m not going to stop setting goals for myself or trying to achieve them. Or making lists. Oh, I will never stop making lists.
So, in the spirit of getting older and seeing life pass me by and wanting to fix the things that don’t make me happy and implement things that will make me happy and stop making excuses and just do the thing already, here are some resolutions I’d like to keep in this new year and beyond.
- Learn about essential oils.
- Start taking care of my skin.
- Purchase our own furniture.
- Take a shooting lesson.
- Get a bra fitting – and buy new underwear (TMI?)
- Read 20 books.
- Visit a friend in NYC.
- Do the splits.
- Become a morning person.
- Listen to music.
- Dance.
- Get outside.
- Call my mother.
- Eat breakfast.
- Meal plan.
- Walk daily.
- Sew something.
- Clean a little every day.
- Get coffee with friends.
- Hike with friends.
- Color.
- Ride my bike.
- Roller skate.
- Go to the beach.
- Try meditating.
- Wear perfume.
Some trivial. Some harder to implement than others. Some I’ve tried to do for a long time. All important to me in living a fulfilling and happy life.
I know I haven’t been sharing as many photos in this space, but with our GoPro we’ve begun making videos. It has been a lot of fun and a nice change of pace from photo taking – video just adds a whole new dimension to memory keeping that I really love. It takes longer to compile, but I’m hoping to start sharing those soon.
By the way, no need to wait until Friday to start changing your life. I’m already starting to work on mine.

Essential oils are so fun, but I recommend learning about using them SAFELY before anything else. Start with Robert Tisserand. Steer far away from MLM (multi-level marketing) companies. 🙂
Thank you for the advice! I know nothing about them but have seen ’em popping up everywhere and have been wanting to look into them.
Happy New Year!
