For the 4th of July weekend, we went camping (again) but this time with my brother and niece in Big Bear! Rain was on the forecast for the entire weekend, but we were able to dodge it with a tarp, and it thankfully held off most of the time. We hiked a couple of trails, played ladder ball, and made tacos and s’mores (with Reese’s Cups!). We also had glow sticks, mustaches, and red and blue sodas to celebrate the holiday right!
On our roadtrip back to Texas, Whitney and I listened to the audiobook, Wild, about a woman who hikes solo for 100 days straight on the Pacific Crest Trail; it’s also coming out as a movie later this year. So we were really excited that one of the trails we hiked intersected with the PCT. We took a photo next to the trail head, but as it goes, I have to finish that roll of film before developing. Those will probably pop up here at some point (all of these photos were taken on film).
The older I get, the more I appreciate being outdoors in nature. And the more I dream about living on a farm somewhere (Anne of Green Gables anyone?). That probably isn’t written in the stars for me, but hey, a girl can dream, right? 😉
