My husband and I finally had a weekend to take a camping trip…just the two of us and Kip. We drove up to Morro Bay early Saturday morning in hopes of snagging a campsite at Isley Creek Campground. We ate lunch and headed to the beach for four hours, where Kipling wore herself out swimming and playing frisbee. Back at the campsite we made chili dogs (veggie for me), an absolute necessity on any camping trip. Then we took a long walk as dusk settled in. Dogs aren’t allowed on the trails, so we walked along the road, and it was so peaceful. As the sun was setting we headed back to camp to build a fire, drink coffee, and roast s’mores. We have a solar powered charger/radio that we used to play music while we relaxed by the fire. And Kipling has a light up collar that came in handy as it got dark (and was a hit amongst the other campers). Kipling slept in the tent with us and was so exhausted, she passed right out. She did get a little protective hearing campers pass by and would growl while half-asleep…it was so cute. It was Kipling’s first camping trip, and we had a great time just our little family of three. We sure needed the getaway.
Though I was wary of not having backup photos, I decided to take our camping trip photos with my film camera. I’m so glad I did. They aren’t perfect, but I love them all the same. I can’t wait for the other camping trips we already have planned this year. ❤
