Last year, we put a deep fryer on our wedding registry. Whitney’s idea. So now we have this huge deep fryer and luckily a lot of storage space. This past weekend we finally brought it out to fry up some food! Obviously this isn’t going to be a super regular thing, but it was a lot of fun working in the kitchen together. We peeled and sliced potatoes for homemade french fries (did you know it’s really just as easy as frying and then salting them?), and attempted to make these mini-corn dogs (veggie for me). The breading tasted really good, but I’m sure this would have worked a lot better in a pan (as the recipe calls for) rather than a fryer. A lot of the batter fell off the hotdogs, and thus we were left with something not so pretty (I’ll spare you the photos). I’ve also come to realize that the only way I can enjoy veggie dogs is if I grill ’em. No more boiling them for me.
Okay guys, the real reason we made french fries was so we could use our Whataburger ketchup that we brought back from Texas.
Do you have any crazy foods you fry? I wonder what our next deep frying adventure will be…
