dog parks

Weekends are the best, aren’t they? This past Saturday morning we woke up, made some smoothies, and took our Kip-a-lip to the dog park. Kipling is a very sweet and friendly dog. She doesn’t bark back, and she’s not aggressive. But since we moved to Los Angeles, she has also been very shy. She’s totally up for jumping around and playing with other dogs within the confines of our apartment, but I think being out in the open amongst several dogs overwhelms her. A dog has to be very young and very playful to get Kipling excited. She’ll act interested and go up to the dogs and sniff around, but unless the other dog is very proactive in getting her to play, she usually won’t. We always hope she’ll play with the other dogs at the park, but she only obsesses over her ball (a blue racquetball) the entire time. Oh well, at least she’s getting exercise.

The rest of Saturday we spent with a couple of friends at brunch and then a movie marathon at the theater (saw Monsters University and World War Z). My favorite thing about Monsters University was its references to Monsters Inc.! I wasn’t scared by World War Z, and I am literally scared of everything (I refuse to watch scary movies). Maybe I wasn’t scared because we were sitting in the very first row…or maybe The Walking Dead has prepared me for this. Sunday was a laze around/cleaning day (our friend Sonny is visiting this week…always a good excuse to clean), and for dinner we tried Indian food for the first time (too saucy for me).

Happy Monday!
