Last week I decided that we should try to make plans every day to get out and explore LA. Once February 4th rolls around, Whitney will be spending his week days at work (and I’ll be figuring out my life and schedule, etc. etc. as well), so we really need to take advantage of our time off to have FUN. Once the necessary errands were run and our apartment felt settled, we decided to get out of it.
16/365. We spent one afternoon exploring Santa Monica, where we ate hot dogs and a churro (we shared that huge Coke) for lunch on the Santa Monica pier and really enjoyed the beautiful weather (the cold snap finally passed, and we were welcomed to the sunny California weather LA is known for) and the views of the clear blue sky and ocean. We then walked along the beach (about a mile and a half each way) to Main Street, where a ton of local shops and cafes are located. I’ve been on the lookout for a new coat and blazer, and I was thrilled to find both at a great thrift shop called The Closet. The coat is a beautiful Rachel Zoe design that I grabbed at an amazing price, and the blazer is Banana Republic (both in excellent condition). I’ll have to share photos of my finds later. We also bought an album from Arts and Letters (super cute store that sells scrapbooks, stationary, etc.) to put together our wedding photos, so I’m excited about ordering prints and working on that project. We randomly found Main Street by looking up “Things to do in Santa Monica” on my phone, and I’m so glad we did. It really was a perfect California afternoon.
Whitney navigating us towards Main Street on my phone. Like I said before, we are loving walking everywhere we can here…the weather is just too perfect!
