I finally have time to catch up on here. Work is over. Filming is over. And packing is pretty much over (we still have to clean). But right now I am home for the holidays and have loved the freedom to do as I please. There will be a lot more photos and posts coming your way soon, but I’m going to take one step at a time.
Our last week nannying (my sister and I both do it), we decided to get our kids together to bake and decorate Christmas cookies. We hadn’t introduced the kids before, but they are close enough in age, and we thought it would be a fun holiday “craft” to do together. I briefly thought about taking the easy way out and buying the pre-made dough, but the girl my sister nannies is allergic to peanuts, and I didn’t want to risk it. Turns out the dough was super easy to make (I hadn’t done it in a few years, so I couldn’t remember)…I did it in the morning and let it stiffen up a bit in the fridge until we took it out that afternoon.
The kids had fun making, and more specifically, eating, these cookies, so I would say it was a successful afternoon. I tried to keep the mess at bay by covering the table with cutting boards and placing the cookie cutters in a bowl, etc. But by the end of it, flour and icing was covering my table and everything on it. I also had to be on top of the whole washing your hands thing. Kids like to touch everything and cough everywhere, and the germ-o-phobe I am was not having it. You win some, you lose some.
I hope you found time to fit Christmas baking, crafts, movies, and activities into your schedule this holiday season. I have been doing as much as I possibly can!
