congress bats

It’s funny how many people don’t fully explore their city even after living there for years. We’ve been in Austin for 5 1/2 years and had yet to see the bats fly out from under the Congress bridge. So again, we used my cousin’s visit as motivation to finally go out there. Apparently, this is the largest colony of bats in an urban environment (or something like that)…1.5 million bats! It was dark when they came out, so it was too difficult to capture a great photo. But it was seriously so crazy how many of them swarmed out (and for such a long time!). It almost didn’t seem real. If you are interested in going (which you should), here’s some more information.

We wrapped up the night with dinner at Trudy’s and some dancing to our new Xbox Kinect game (and Xbox!), Just Dance 4. I’m loving it.

Photos taken by my cousin, husband, and me (all edited by me).
