summer part three

So after being back home for a few weeks, it was off again to Houston to be a “live-in nanny” for my niece while she was with my brother for the month of July. Let me tell you, if I wasn’t getting married and didn’t have Kipling, I think being a live-in nanny would be a very viable career option. I love spending time with and taking care of children (not to mention my niece is a great little girl). I wanted her to have a great summer vacation in Houston, so I kept her busy.

Trip to the Houston Zoo. It was blazing hot, but we had a great time. My grandmother used to take us to the zoo all the time when I was a kid.

Feeding the giraffes. I had never done it before…pretty neat!

We loved this little goat in the petting zoo section…she wanted to take it home!

My mama’s homemade ribs she made for the 4th of July.

American flag cake…boxed white cake with cool whip and sliced strawberries and blueberries. So simple, so light, so good.

Staked out to watch the fireworks. The finale was pretty spectacular.

Astros baseball game with my brother, her dad. Unfortunately, Texas didn’t win this one. But I did get on the Jumbotron briefly…my first time for that to happen at a baseball game!

Shopping and ice skating at the mall. She loves being out on the ice…it was hard for me to get her to stop!

On our way back to California! Her dad met us out there the week after.

I had such a great time with my niece for those two weeks. We had a lot of fun doing all of these activities plus going to the movies, making crafts and painting, playing with Kipling, and finding her dress for my wedding (she is going to be a junior bridesmaid ๐Ÿ™‚ ).

Until next time…

  1. Adorable. But I guarantee you would not feel that way about random children. Family is totally different.

    1. Haha, we will see! I read your blog…you have some interesting stories to share. ๐Ÿ™‚ I actually just got hired with a nanny agency, so we will see how that goes (however, I won’t be doing any “live-in” nannying.). Thanks for the comment!
