As I am couch-ridden for these next couple of days (due to getting my wisdom teeth removed), I thought now is as good a time as any to get caught up on my blog posts. I know my posts have been primarily photography related lately, but I have been having so many fun shoots! I love challenging myself as an artist and overcoming my fears when it comes to photographing new subjects, topics, and styles. I know I can never learn without first doing, and that is what I am here for…to continually expand my skill and knowledge in photography, as well as add to my portfolio. I also need to remember that my clients are sometimes nervous themselves, and it’s my job to make them relax and feel comfortable in front of the camera…while I take care of the rest! 🙂 Photography has not only helped me creatively but also socially, as I have always been more of an introvert, and I’m happy to say that I have received great feedback on the relaxed atmosphere I create for my clients. 🙂 It’s a learning process for me too!
Anyway, the last session I left you with was Cole’s newborn session, which was an absolute treat to do. I have always known I love taking photos of children, but babies are a whole other ballpark…and I love it! Well this past week, I had the chance to shoot an old friend’s maternity photos…another first of mine (shooting maternity that is!). I have known Ashley since 8th grade and couldn’t be more excited for her and her baby girl, Riley Rae, who is due in September (perhaps we could share a birthday? I’m September 10th!) Ashley is beautiful, as I’m sure her little girl will be. I hope I’ll be able to shoot some newborn photos of her when she finally arrives, as well as get Riley’s daddy, Bryan, in there for some too! 🙂 *Fun note: he proposed to Ashley the next morning after our shoot, so now we are both engaged ladies! 😀 Congratulations to both of you!
