This past weekend I went to cheer my sister on as she ran her first half marathon, 13.1 miles. It is such a feat that I can’t even imagine being able to run that far and for that long. But watching the hundreds of committed runners out there gave me some motivation to become a runner myself, and possibly, eventually, run a half marathon (I won’t go as far as saying I’d ever run a full marathon). Running has never been my thing. In fact, it’s been the complete opposite. I know it’s the best way to get lean, gain endurance, and become more physically fit and healthy, so maybe I should look into this. Anyone know of any good tactics or a schedule for a beginning runner? Especially ones that won’t be discouraging?

check out his site – he has a bunch of training schedules for different distances. it’s what i used for the half – it was fairly easy too! the mileage didn’t increase too drastically.
