I’m always looking for easy dinner recipes because let’s face it, I’m not exactly a culinary genius. I love to bake, but putting together a whole meal, which each dish coming out hot and ready at the exact same time, is not exactly my cup of tea. Plain and simply, it stresses me out. I do like when a recipe calls for very few ingredients. So after having dinner at my sister’s one night, I readily asked her for this quick and easy recipe. Turkey burgers.
What you’ll need:
~ 1 lb ground turkey
~ 1/4 cup bread crumbs
~ salt & pepper
~ green jalapeno jelly (in the pb & j aisle)
~ Hawaiian bread sandwich buns (at HEB, you can find these in the bakery section)
~ coleslaw lettuce
~ red onion (if you so desire)
Mix about 1/4 cup of bread crumbs with the 1 lb of ground turkey. Salt and pepper as desired. Flatten into 4 patties and place on a skillet (if you have a grill, by all means you can use it…this is just faster/easier/cleaner). Cook on medium to medium-high heat for about 5-6 minutes on each side (be very wary of undercooking raw turkey). After cooking one side and flipping the patty, you can spread some of the green jalapeno jelly across the top of the patty to let it soak in while you finish cooking.
Once done, throw the patties on those buns! I think the green jalapeno jelly is what makes this recipe, so I also spread it across each bun before building my burger. Then throw some cole slaw lettuce (adds a great little crunch!) and some sliced onion.
We made this last week, and we made it again last night for a quick dinner before we went to see the Broadway show, Wicked! It’s quick, it’s easy, and it’s pretty healthy. For some extra greens, throw some broccoli or peas in a pot of boiling water. I’m sorry I don’t have a photo of the finished product; we were too hungry to wait! Enjoy!
