busy bee

I have been a busy bee this month. September has included the start of the UT football season, my birthday, and many fun times with friends (including a weekly tradition of $2 bowling and catching Sunday matinee movies at the theater, which by the way, go see The Help. You’ll thank me later). I can’t forget to mention, though, that September has also included many hours spent at work, scrambling to get things done on time, and the start of what I like to call, Kipling’s “Terrible Twos”. She is 7 1/2 months old, which puts her around 4 1/2 years old in human years, but still, I tell you…”Terrible Twos”. She knows what we don’t want her to do, yet she sometimes purposefully disobeys and displays signs of rampant behavior, in which she sprints through the house, jumping up and down on things (and people). I can’t blame her because she is still a baby, and I love her dearly. She’s also so stinkin’ cute that sometimes I just want to let her jump up on the bed and cuddle with me. Sigh.

Anyway, here are some photos to catch you up to speed.

Lemon poppyseed cookies at my sister's game night. I have discovered a newfound fondness of lemon flavored desserts.
I love me a good ol' fashioned game night.
Chocolate Mocha Cupcakes. Also delicious.
Visiting my niece, whom I don't get to see very often. Also eating at Mother's Cafe & Garden for the first time.
Heart-shaped biscuits made from scratch. From The Pioneer Woman's cookbook.
After our first home football game. And our first win!
Homemade punch that my married friend made for our Labor Day get together. Yum! Also, I just love these glass dispensers. I need to invest in one someday.
Chocolate sheet cake from scratch. Also from The Pioneer Woman's cookbook. Also, DELICIOUS. Big mistake because I couldn't stop eating this rich-chocolately-goodness cake that there was way too much of!
Peach Cobbler. Okay, you got me. This is also from The Pioneer Woman's cookbook. I can't help that I love her blog and her recipes, and I finally got around to purchasing her cookbook. This was also for our Labor Day get together. Too.Much.Food.
Beautiful flowers my mother sent me for my birthday. I kept the vase after these were long gone, so I can display my new (fake) flowers. πŸ™‚
Bowling after eating at a Mexican restaurant for my birthday. I love this new dress I picked up from Langford Market. Very 1940s.
